Is this training safe for youth athletes?

Yes. Safety comes first.
Our sessions are designed around age-appropriate progressions for athletes ages 8–14 and 15+. We focus on movement quality, proper technique, and progressive strength—not heavy max lifts or unsafe intensity.

Does my athlete need prior training experience?

No experience needed.
We coach every movement, every session. Many of our athletes start with zero training background and quickly gain confidence, strength, and coordination.

How many days per week should my athlete train?

Most athletes train 2–4 days per week depending on:

  • Age
  • Sport season (in-season vs off-season)
  • Goals
  • Availability

We’ll recommend the right plan during the Free Athlete Performance Assessment.

What happens during the assessment?

Your athlete completes a full performance evaluation including:

  • Movement screen
  • Speed and acceleration tests
  • Power testing
  • Strength and stability assessments
We use these results to place your athlete in the right program and membership.

Do you separate athletes by age?

Yes.
We train in two age groups:

  • 8–14 (youth + middle school)
  • 15+ (high school + advanced athletes)

This ensures appropriate coaching, load, and progression.

What should my athlete bring to training?

Athletic shoes, comfortable clothing, and a water bottle.
Cleats, metal spikes, and sandals are not allowed.

Can my athlete train in-season?

Absolutely—and they should.
In-season training prevents strength loss, supports speed, and reduces injury risk. We adjust load and intensity to match practice and game schedules.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes—our 7-Day Money Back Guarantee applies to athlete memberships.
If after the first 7 days of training you don’t feel Kvell is the right fit, we’ll refund your membership investment—no questions asked.

We remove the risk so your athlete can focus on getting better.

Do you offer team training?

Yes.
We work with Boise-area school and club teams with both in-facility and on-field options. Team training has its own structure—contact us for details.

Sports Performance Training FAQ for Boise Youth & High School Athletes

Below you’ll find detailed answers to common questions about our Boise sports performance training programs, membership options, safety standards, assessment process, and long-term athlete development approach. These FAQs help parents understand how Kvell Sports Performance supports athletes ages 8–14 and 15+ through structured, science-backed training.

Is strength training safe for young athletes?

Yes. Strength training is not only safe—it’s beneficial when properly coached. Kvell uses age-appropriate exercises, controlled progressions, and professional supervision to improve coordination, movement quality, strength, and body control. We avoid unsafe 1-rep max testing and excessive loading that could stress young joints or growth plates.

How often should youth and high school athletes train each week?

Athletes typically train 2–4 times per week depending on goals and season.

  • Off-season: higher frequency for speed and strength development
  • In-season: 1–2 sessions per week to maintain durability and reduce injury risk
  • Multi-sport athletes: flexible schedules that support multiple training loads

We determine the right frequency during the athlete’s assessment.

Do athletes lose strength during the season without training?

Yes. Strength and power decrease rapidly during competitive play if athletes don’t train. In-season training at Kvell maintains strength, speed, and stability so athletes remain explosive and resilient throughout their season.

How does the Free Athlete Performance Assessment work?

The assessment includes:

  • Movement screening
  • Speed measurement
  • Acceleration analysis
  • Jump and power testing
  • Strength and stability evaluation

This data-driven approach allows us to place athletes into the right age group (8–14 or 15+), membership level, and training schedule.

What age should athletes start training?

Most athletes benefit starting around age 8, when coordination, balance, and motor control begin developing rapidly. We adjust exercises to match the athlete’s maturity, ensuring safe and effective development.

Which sports benefit from performance training?

All major sports benefit from speed, strength, agility, and movement training, including:

  • Football
  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Baseball & Softball
  • Wrestling
  • Track & Field
  • Lacrosse
  • Hockey
  • Multi-sport youth athletes

Kvell’s training system supports all sport types across Boise and the Treasure Valley.

What makes Kvell different from conditioning programs or sport practices?

Kvell focuses on athlete development, not conditioning.
We improve:

  • Movement patterns
  • Speed mechanics
  • Strength progression
  • Power output
  • Agility and reaction
  • Durability and injury resistance

This is fundamentally different from sport practices that primarily teach skills or conditioning workouts that simply create fatigue.

Is there a long-term benefit to consistent athlete training?

Yes. Athletes who train consistently develop:

  • Better mechanics
  • Higher strength-to-weight ratios
  • Faster sprinting ability
  • Better agility
  • Improved confidence
  • Lower injury risk
  • Better performance in sport

This is especially important for athletes pursuing varsity roles or college opportunities.
